Funny Work Story
Our office had a retirement luncheon for one of our
37-year employees. When I walked into the room, a younger, blond woman
greeted us. She said my name, as if I'm supposed to know her, and gave me
a hug. Hmm, okay.
After I sat down, I asked my coworker who the blond
woman at the front of the room was. "That's Nancy [our manager]!", he
said. I turned seven shades of red. But I guess I shouldn't have
been embarrassed - Nancy works from home 100% of the time so I had never met
her. We have twice-weekly video meetings but we always turn our cameras
off. The only time I had ever seen her was during my video job interview
over a year ago. And that was only about 20 seconds, before the technical
guy took over.
As expected, my coworker razzed me in our next
meeting.
